The title, "The Eagle Flies Free"
was
derived as follows: The Eagle is our emblem and Freedom is what America
represents, thanks to the sacrifices of our men & women in uniform.
These copies were lithographed off of our original, which was drawn over a 41/2-month period. From the Mayflower flying the English Flag in the upper right corner, into the future of the Space Program with the X-33.(this is the proposed experimental Space shuttle)
Geographically
it
was designed as best as possible like a map of the United States-North to
South and East to West. In the upper left of the print you will see
Seattle and the Space Needle. Going south you will see San Francisco with
the Golden Gate Bridge. Continuing down you will see Hollywood represented
with John Wayne and Marilyn Monroe. Below them, San Diego is represented
with the ship, the Star of India and the Hotel Del Coronado. As you look
northeast you will see Texas represented with the Alamo. You will also see
St Louis and the Arch, ÒThe gateway to the WestÓ. If you look southeast
you will see Florida and the Kennedy Space Center with the Shuttle on the
launch pad. As you go north, you will see New York skyline and the Statue
of Liberty, the Capitol, Washington Monument and the White House.
There are over 150 People, Places, Symbols and events depicted in the picture.
Of special interest is the map of the United States in the upper
left. YOU CAN ACTUALLY READ THE GETTYSBURG ADDRESS. It was done while
working underneath a jewelerÕs magnifying glass. To our knowledge, no one
has ever done it this size before!
You can also read the preamble to the Constitution, the
inscription on the ÒGolden SpikeÓ that joined the Central Pacific &
Union Pacific railroads in Promontory, Utah(1869). If you look next to the
Space shuttle, you will see all the names of the Astronauts who lost their
lives on the Challenger(1986)
As a Tribute to the Military
, we have Bob Hope representing all branches
of Service. Uncle Sam from WW l, Paton & Halsey from WW ll., The
Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, the Vietnam Memorial and Wall, Schwarzkopf,
Bush & Powell from Desert Storm. Can you find more???
Les Hamlin, Del Riley and Gary Fussner intended this picture to be ÒuniqueÓ conversation piece hanging in your Living Room, Office or Den as a tribute to ÒAllÓ Americans, especially our Military.
Parents & Teachers also see it as educational tool and a gift. Military personnel
see it as an Award, Retirement or going away gift
—especially with an engraving. The back
of the framed picture is like a giant "Greeting" card............everybody can sign it!
